The Children's Center
Class Parent Guidelines
2007 - 2008 School Year
A class parent's primary duties are to:

1. Respond to the teacher's requests for help, especially with class projects, trips and parties. It is the class parent's responsibility to delegate assignments to all interested parents. Try to give as many parents as possible the opportunity to participate.

2. Attend Open House. Arrive early and offer assistance in greeting parents.

3. If a new student joins the class once the school year has commenced, please welcome new parents by calling them and offering help and information about the class, school and town.

4. Do not become involved in personal matters between parents and teachers. Do become familiar with the Home/School communications procedures and refer parents to those procedures.

5. When volunteering in the classroom, parents are expected to adhere to the Ethics Code of Confidentiality. This means observations of other children in class are expected to remain confidential. Please communicate to other parents that they are expected to act responsibly and respect the privacy rights of all children.

6. Make the calls to parents and/or their designated contacts in the event of an emergency dismissal. The Emergency Dismissal Forms are the documents used for making these calls. We will do a "dry run" of the Phone Chain on October 25 th. Please note that an emergency dismissal can be necessary due to an emergency weather condition or to a building emergency.
