Power Outages/Hurricane Preparedness
Dear Parents/Guardians:

LIPA (Long Island Power Authority) has informed us that there is a potential for power outages on LI due to prolonged heat wave or hurricane.

In the case of a weak Category 1 Hurricane LIPA predicts 9 days to fully restore power to its customers.  If there is a more significant hurricane, power outages could be as much as of 30 days or more!

No one can predict a power outage or when hurricanes will form or where they will hit and at what intensity.  All households should prepare.   Especially vulnerable are homes south of Montauk Highway

As always, we are very concerned about your safety
Attached is some information that was forwarded by the Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management.

In the event of an impending hurricane, school may be cancelled and/or the children may be sent home early.  Please make sure to keep our Education Office updated if your emergency contact numbers change so we may reach you.

In the event of a school closing, please check News 12 on TV or on their internet site:  www.news12.com.
