The MOVE® Program
The Children’s Center at UCP was named a MOVE® (Mobility Opportunities via Education) model site in 1999. The MOVE® program, founded by a special educator, is based on the belief that functional movement is the foundation for learning and independence. The Children’s Center supports this philosophy and proudly offers the program and its curriculum to the children and families we serve.
- Designed to help individuals improve their ability to sit, stand and walk while participating in purposeful activities in school, home and in the community
- All educators, therapists and support staff are formally trained in the use of the curriculum and are prepared to provide students with opportunities to practice their motor skills throughout the school day
- MOVE® uses a team approach in setting goals and monitoring progress
- Specifically designed equipment is available to assist the students in participating in activities and moving as independently as possible
