The Children's Center Staff

Beth Apostoli, M.Ed., SAS/SDA, Director of Educational Services/Principal
Beth holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from Boston College and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from Hofstra University. She has served as Principal at The Children's Center since October 2008. Prior to assuming this position, Beth provided home-based early intervention evaluations and services and served as a consultant to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) for the Suffolk County Department of Health. She was an adjunct instructor in Hofstra University's graduate education program and supervised student teachers in both general and special education settings. Beth has 25 years of progressive experience in the field of special education with emphasis on providing for the needs of individuals with severe and multiple disabilities and their families.

Sherri Glazer, M.S.Ed., SAS, Assistant Principal
Sherri holds a B.S. in Special Education, an M.S. in Elementary Education and an Advanced Certificate in School Administration/Supervision from Dowling College. She has served as Assistant Principal at The Children's Center since February of 2008. Sherri has worked with students with special needs since 1994 as a K-5 life skills teacher, a CSE chairperson and a principal for a summer school enrichment program. At The Children's Center, Sherri is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the education program including the supervision of educational staff, scheduling and instructional planning.

Chris Hammer, PT, Clinical Supervisor
Chris graduated in 1973 from Downstate Medical Center with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. She joined UCP as a staff physical therapist in 1980. Chris provided therapeutic services to children ranging in age from birth through adulthood. During this time, she was the Center Coordinator for students studying physical therapy from a variety of universities. Chris was an adjunct professor for courses in pediatrics and the psycho-social aspects of disability at Stony Brook University. She became the Clinical Supervisor over 10 years ago. Chris has expanded her clinical experience by receiving additional training in the complex psycho-emotional needs of individuals with disabilities, their families and those that provide care.
